(Traces of precious fabrics)
Mechthild Flury-Lemberg, Gisela Illek, Pierre Fayard, Barbara Matuella, Gabriel Vial
Volume 3 of the Riggisberg Reports documents the activities of the Textile Conservation Department of the Abegg Foundation in the years 1990 to 1993. The textile works discussed were on display in the special exhibition entitled "Traces of precious fabrics 1992. The structure of the report follows the documentation of the Conservation Department whose working methods were explained by the principal author in the study entitled "Textile conservation in the service of research. With a view to more far-reaching archeological or art historical research, processes are explained and the information which came to light during the restoration of the objects is evaluated. The documentation is completed by a catalogue section with technical analyses, further drawings and references to literature.
This publication is intended for textile curators and restorers, art historians and archeologists, as well as cultural historians and interested laymen.
